Aunty Zhong’s
About This Spot
Stepping into Aunty Zhong’s on Düsseldorfer Str. feels like slipping into a quiet nook where the everyday rush slows down, replaced by the warm embrace of simple, heartfelt cooking. This modest Chinese noodle restaurant carries the unpretentious charm of a local favorite—its atmosphere calm and unassuming, with the gentle hum of Chinese tunes weaving through the air, inviting you to settle in and take a breath.
The pace here is naturally unhurried, shaped by a kitchen crew working thoughtfully behind a self-service setup that feels both efficient and sincere. It’s the kind of place where you become part of a small, shared rhythm—ordering at the counter, catching the familiar steam rising from bowls of deeply flavored broth, and quietly observing the care that goes into each dish. Far from flashy, the interior’s simplicity shines through in its quiet friendliness, and visitors often find themselves welcomed as if to someone’s kitchen rather than a bustling eatery.
What truly defines the experience is the food itself, which speaks softly yet clearly of genuine roots. The hand-pulled noodles arrive in steaming soups, rich with earthy mushrooms or tender braised beef, each spoonful carrying the warmth of home-style flavors. Dumplings, both fried and boiled, add a satisfying contrast, while small sides like cucumber salad or pickled cabbage provide bright, fresh moments that balance deeper, savory notes. Those subtle touches—from the slight kick of chili oil to the aroma of smoked bamboo shoots—draw you closer with every bite.
There’s a quiet joy in the way Aunty Zhong’s feels so unpretentious yet so carefully crafted, a feeling echoed by regulars who appreciate the authenticity and the gentle hospitality extended by the few staff who often manage the dining room with a smile. Whether you're seeking refuge on a chilly day or a straightforward meal that centers on comfort and flavor, this low-key spot offers a personalized kind of warmth that lingers long after the last sip of broth.

A wonderful not formal little bistro/restaurant. We went there for dumplings, fried and cooked and we were delighted by the authentic taste. The cucumber salad, which we had at the side, was just amazing. Very nice and calm interior with the most friendly staff. I can only recommend it and I will be back for sure!

Self Service. Very efficient kitchen with only 2 people working in the Restaurant and they are friendly. The noodles are so tasty that I drank almost all the soup. 2 small side dishes coriander and sauer cabbage. The music is chinese songs popular among those born in the 1980's.

Wandering around Frankfurt on Christmas and decided to swing in as a warm bowl of soup noodles appealed to us. To our surprise it was a great happy accident. Had the beef rib soup and tossed in some fried dumpling. Absolutely delicious and warmed the soul after walking around. The place is clean and the food is great.

One of the best Lanzhou noodles I’ve had overseas - truly authentic. The cold dishes (黄瓜、猪耳)and the chilli oil brought back such nostalgic flavours. We also tried the dumplings, which were clearly handmade and absolutely delicious. It’s a gem noodles restaurant next to the Frankfurt train station.
